Tooth Fairy Pillow

I've seen lots of Tooth Fairy pillows are being posted on Pinterest. I thought that they looked cute but they needed a Craft Fairy makeover. So I decided to make a bright and cheerful one that can be used for other things once the teeth have all fallen out.

This ├╝ber cute tooth fairy pillow is only 10cm wide. Just the right size for slipping under the child's pillow on the bed.

The pocket is formed by laying a piece of pink felt over the white base. Remember to sew the sides closed but to leave the top open. Sew the pompom trim to the pink felt before sewing the sides of the pillow.

It is made from:

Baby Pink 30% Wool Craft Felt
White Felt 30% Wool Blend
Shocking Pink Pom Pom Trim, 25mm
Black Swiss Dot Ribbon Bows Centre Stitch

I also used a pink thread for the blanket stitch and sewing on the bow.

The pillow is stuffed with white pillow filling.

Felt is currently unavailable on Craft Fairy so please contact me for a supply.

A Jute Bag for the Tiger in You

You can't have escaped the growing craze for personalized jute bags. Many of them are of stylized faces that look fantastic, but not everyone wants one of these so I thought that I would show you an alternative bag for the more tigerish amongst us.

You can make this bag in an hour, it's that simple.

First, get your hands on a bag from Craft Fairy. Click this link to get one super quickly.

Small NATURAL JUTE Shopper 250 x 110 x 290mm

Then you will need:

Needle and thread
Double sided tape

Start by cutting a piece of  Leopard Print Grosgrain Ribbon to fit the front of the bag. Stick a piece of double sided tape to the back of the ribbon, remove the tape backing and stick down to the bag. You can now attach it to the bag with a row of running stitches. This will help to make it more secure.

Now make a dior Bow. I'll make a video for this.

Cut a piece of Chocolate Brown Grosgrain Ribbon to the length that you wish to have the bow tails and cut a 'v' out of the ends. Stitch this in place on the bag.

Sew the dior bow to the bag and you're finished.

Funky Heart

I think that you can't have helped but notice that I have made a large number of decorated felt hearts lately. I have loved them all but they are a little labour intensive, albeit a labour of love. No pun intended. So for today's heart I decided to go for simple and with the addition of a bow, I think quite funky.

Ready cut out hearts are available from Craft Fairy here. The bows can be seen here.

New designers

I'm so delighted to tell you all that Craft Fairy is now sponsoring three new designers. Some of my Facebook buddies may have already spotted their makes on their facebook pages.
So let's start with Tina Cox who is already well known for her parchment craft designs. Many of you have no doubt seen her on Create and Craft. Well she has used Craft Fairy ribbons for years.  Now we're just making it official.

Let's start with one of Tina's cards that combines parchment and ribbon.

The ribbons and lace are availabe from http://www.craftfairy.co.uk

You can get Tina's designs her on her web page. http://www.tinacox.co.uk

Bows, so cute

If you want to know what I do when 'watching' the television then ponder no more because this is what I did yesterday evening. I made a dozen of these in an hour. That didn't include the cutting of the ribbon but quite honestly that took about 5 minutes and my full attention. Scissors and looking in the opposite direction don't mix. ouch!

At www.craftfairy.co.uk we have some really beautiful ribbon. I know that I'm prejudice but what the hell. Still, I reiterate that we do have wonderul ribbon and this polka dot ribbbon is one of the best. It is 38mm wide so wide enough to make these bows so that they will stand out on a garment or in the hair.
They will make a perfest Christmas stocking filler if they are added to haairclips and that's what I intend doing with them. That and selling them at the local gift fair that I'm attending next Saturday.

So do you want to know how to make them? I've made a video clip here for you so that the mistery is unravelled and you'll be surprised at how quickly and easily they are made.

Ribbons used in the bows above:

Ermin Grosgrain Ribbon, 3m x 9mm

Go make.

Cupcake Hair Bows

In my last blog entry, I showed you the new cupcake ribbons that have just arrived here with us at Craft Fairy. This time I am going to be far more proactive (don't you just love that word) and show you a simple bow project.

I've put in a picture right away as I always find it annoying if you have to wait until the very end until you find out what it is.

So, to make this bow you will need:
Strong thread
a needle
Double sided tape.

C
Cut two 24cm pieces of 16mm brown ribbon
Cut two 24cm pieces of 16mm pink ribbon

Put a piece of double sided tape in the centre of each of the 4 pieces of ribbon. Make sure to put it on the wrong side of the cupcake ribbon.
When you've done this, remove the covering from the double sided ribbon and fold the outer edges to the centres that they touch and are held in place by the tape.

Sick all 4 pieces as shown in the picture above.
Cross the two pieces of brown grosgrain as shown and sew the two pieces together with a running stitch.

Pull the thread tight and loop it around the ribbons so that they bunch up in the centre. Repeat this stage with the cupcake ribbon.

Now, sew the cupcake ribbon onto the brown ribbon and finish with a button in the centre. You can add a pin or a barrette to the back if you like.

Poinsettia Wreath for Christmas

Some of you may remember the poinsettia flower that I did as a tutorial a few weeks ago. I pondered and pondered about what I could do with it and finally this wreath is what I came up with.

If you want to make one then you will need some red felt to make the wreath and some kapok to stuff it. I cut out a circle of felt. I used a large ribbon reel but feel free to improvise and use whatever you have in the house. The centre was marked with a reel of beading wire that I happened to have handy.

The wreath is sewn together using good old blanket stitch and stuffed with kapok just before it is completely sewn together. Sew the poinsettias to the wreath.

I uesd a 38mm satin ribbon in teal to make the bow and the hanging ribbon. You can buy it from Craft Fairy here.

Glamour in Pink and Black

I think that I'm on a roll with the Glamour Girls Stamps from Time to Stamp so I've made another one that is a bit on the dramatic side. I've noticed that pink and black is a very popular colour combo at the craft fairy so I've decided to go with this for the latest card. I just love the way that the stamp seems to have a sheen especially on the nylons. I bet that some of my younger readers don't even know what they are. Guesses in the comments would be fun.

You can get this wonderful stamp here.
The ribbon here

I've entered this in the Secret Crafter's Challenge 115, Buttons and Bows.
Happy crafting.

Fairy Happy Birthday

How cold is it with you? I bet that it's freezing and that you wish that this awful snow would go away as soon as possible. There is a silver lining to all of this snow: you can stay inside and craft!
I've decided that the best thing to do is to enter as many challenges as I can. So I'm starting with the Stamp with Fun Challenge by Tina.
Cute Card Thursday for 'One for the Kids'
Stamp Fairy challenge. Rather appropriate for a Craft Fairy don't you think?
Digital Tuesday challenge, Let's Celebrate.

I've used the Party Fairy stamp from Craft Fairy natch, and you can get it here.

She is also available as a digital image here. At only £1.50 she is a snip and no postal costs, no waiting, and no worries that the delivery is not going to get to you as the snow has stopped play.

I used some of the craft Fairy flowers, which are here.

I coloured her in with Art and Graphic pens from Kuretake, available here
The ribbon that I used is the rosy mauve 16mm double faced satin availabe here
I hope that you like it as much as I do.
Stay warm.

Sentimental verse freebie

Over on the Craft Fairy website we have started a freebie section. So far it has mainly been verses or funny quips. So today, I've added a verse, that I wrote, for a sentimental card. I hope that you like it. I've only printed half of the verse on the sample card but you can get the whole verse on the Freebies section of the Craft Fairy web site.
Happily this fits in perfectly with the theme on Allsorts challenge blog which this week is, Free and Easy. To see the challenge pop on over.

To make this card, use a 14cm x 14cm base card.

1 sheet of patterned paper 13cm x 13cm

1 piece of pink satin edged chiffon 9cm

A selection of flowers from Craft Fairy flowers section.

Tan brown leaves

Free sentiment from the freebies section on Craft Fairy

See the tutorial on corsages for a 'how to' on the rose corsage.

One important point.

The card was scored and creased using the Eazi-score board from Diamond craft.

if you want to see how to use it then click here to be taken to a set of video tutorials.

A Birthday Card for my Grandaughter

It's almost birthday time for my youngest grand daughter and I decided to get in early with her birthday card. I chose the gardening fairy for her as my littlest granddaughter may be only three but she really loves gardening. She also loves the flowers that I drew with the Kuretake pens so I decided to make a card that combines the two things that she really loves the most. Except me that is!

What you will need:
1 base card, 140mm x 140mm
Gardening Fairy Unmounted rubber stamp
Zig Kuretake tut pens in colours: 207 (for skin) 50 for stems and a variety for the fairy,
a saying.
Baby pink and pure pink Kuretake calligraphy blending pens
6 mm green gingham ribbon

This card is easy peasy to make.
Draw the flowers (see the 'Quick and Easy guide to drawing flowers with pens)
Put a strip of double sided sticky tape across the base of the card and stick the ribbon on to the card. Add a bow to the ribbon.
Stamp and colour the fairy, cut it out and use some foam pads to stick it to the card.
Add your desired sentiment and doodle around the edge of the card.
Finished.

Fairy, but with a twist

Yet more fairies. Well, yes, but with a twist as I made this using more blue and beige. I also wanted to enter the Sketch and Stash challenge with the fab layour that they have this week, and the Spoonful of Sugar challenge that is also running. That one is for lots of layers and I certainly used lots on this card. The card is again made with my soon to be released fairy images so keep on looking and as soon as they are ready you will be the first to know.
